The Relatives ride the waves of uhhh, water..

On the weekend we were lucky enough to have a gig out of town. Taupo to be vague, The River Lodge in Reporoa to be very precise.

We arrived, set up & then decided to do a walk through the township to breathe in the atmosphere. It then started raining. We’re sure most of NZ must have also felt this rain. After playing a rocking gig and arriving to pick up our gear in the morning it was now as Forrest Gump describes it ‘Big ol’ Fat rain’. We were lucky that everything had turned into a lake because Blair left the lights on in the van and the battery was dead. (He’s good like that) After trying and then deciding that crash starting is not very effective in a lake, we were fortunate enough to be leant a hand by a new friend to start the vehicle.

Nature got very creative on the desert road.

There were rivers running on either side of it and brand new lakes for swimming in the middle of the road. It’s lucky we took an amphibious vehicle because otherwise we could have got carried away swimming in these new lakes.

Now we are home, dry and getting very excited about our second gig this year at the Greenman and our DEBUT at Monteiths bar in Kapiti on the weekend. Times are good (Not to mention rocking) – See you all on the weekend!
